LEROY L. HERMES

VICE CHAIRMAN, UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE

PRESIDENT, HERMES CONSULTING, INC.

Leroy Hermes is the founding principal of Hermes Architects. Founded in 1969, Hermes Architects provided professional services for millions of square feet of public works, commercial, retail, institutional and religious projects throughout the United States. In that capacity Hermes has served as advisor and consultant to numerous major national and local real estate developers, major retailers, governmental agencies and religious groups. His knowledge of architectural design, project feasibility and economics is diverse and respected. Among his major works are NRG Stadium and NRG Center and many other large projects nationwide.
 

During his career, Hermes has been active in many civic, political and business organizations and served in a leadership role in many civic organizations political campaigns. His roles in those areas included everything from working the polls on election day to serving as Finance Chair for numerous political campaigns and serving on Advisory Boards of elected officials at the highest level of local, state and federal government.
 

Leroy Hermes was appointed to the UH System Board of Regents in 2001 by Governor Rick Perry. Hermes’ term expired on August 31, 2007. He served as Chairman of the Board of Regents for fiscal years 2006 and 2007. For year 2005, he served as Vice Chairman of the Board. In previous years, he served as chairman and vice chairman of the Administration and Finance Committee. He has also served as a member of the Education Task Force and as vice chair of the Technology Task Force.
 

He is currently President of Hermes Consulting, Inc. and an Emeritus member of the American Institute of Architects, The Texas Society of Architects, and a past member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. Other activities include past president of the “C” Club of Houston, past president of the Houston Community College Foundation and former Trustee of the Houston Realty Breakfast Club. Hermes earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Houston in 1966. In 1995 he was selected among the top 50 graduates in the first 50 years of the University of Houston Gerald D. Hines, College of Architecture and in 2011 was awarded a Distinguished Alumnus Award by the University of Houston Alumni Association.
